Bonython Estate Gardens
On the Lizard Peninsula, Bonython Estate Gardens showcases 20-acres of beautiful grounds and gardens to dream and drift around. Within this garden paradise , you’ll discover sweeping lawns and picturesque lakes, as well as a blend of traditional and contemporary garden designs.
Bonython has a range of facilities like disabled access toilets and a café serving scrumptious cakes and heartwarming hot drinks. Dogs are also welcome at Bonython, but please always keep your pooch on their lead.
The gardens are open to the public during the week, between 10:00am and 16:00pm and between the months of April and September.
Trebah Gardens
A short 30-minute drive from Trenance Farm Cottages, Trebah Gardens is a subtropical gem of a garden in Cornwall.
The gardens has its own secrets to discover, such as Polgwidden Cove, an embarkation point during World War two, and the Hydrangea Valley, offering an incredible display of arrangement and colour. Trebah Gardens is a great spot for a leisurely stroll with your family, or even by yourself for a moment of inner tranquility.
The only toilets in the gardens are at the main visitor centre. It’s recommended for those who need disabled access to book a “Tramper” mobility scooter in advance, as there is some steepness to the path.
Glendurgan Gardens
Created by Albert Fox in 1826, Glendurgan Gardens is a 40-minute drive from Trenance Farm Cottages. This garden in Cornwall is set above the quaint hamlet of Durgan and is owned and managed by the National Trust.
Covering 30 acres of woodland, Glendurgan Gardens is home to beautiful azaleas and magnolias, as well as a garden maze built in 1833, all inspired by the Sydney Gardens in Bath. The village of Durgan is open to visitors, and is the perfect spot for rock pooling, or soaking up some rays. Please note that only guide dogs are allowed within the gardens.
For the little members of the family, look out for the ‘Giant’s Stride’ rope swing. Once you’re ready, refresh yourself in the café and browse through the onsite bookshop. You may just find your next favourite book!
Cudden Point

Whilst Cudden Point is not a formal public garden in Cornwall, the views, coastal air, and clifftop wildflowers offer a different kind of natural wonder as a wild garden. .
Only a 15-minute drive from Trenance Farm Cottages, Cudden point is an easy alternative on the days where you don’t want to travel far. The rugged beauty of Cudden Point is a stark contrast to the well-kept public gardens, which adds to the diverse landscapes that makes Cornwall so special.
We suggest packing a hearty lunch and making a day out of taking in the incredible vistas that are on offer at Cudden Point.
Trengwainton Garden
A favourite amongst locals, Trengwainton Garden boasts 25 acres that are perfect for casual exploration. As a gardener’s paradise, you’ll find fascinating champion trees, rare species of shrubbery, and stunning views over towards St Michaels Mount and Mount’s Bay.
A highlight of the Trengwainton Garden is the kitchen garden, with its herbaceous borders stretching up to 100 metres long, and unusual sloping beds designed to maximise the sun’s rays, the kitchen garden is one of the most unique amongst gardens in Cornwall.
Trengwainton Gardens is only a 20-minute drive from Trenance Farm Cottages. Dogs are very welcome on leads, and there is a café, bookshop and fantastic access for the disabled.
